God Helps Those Who…
…help themselves.
You may have heard this bromide a million times or more. I believe it is basically true.
But, what if you try and still fail?
What if you know what to do, know you can do it and really want it yet still can’t?
For example, I know EXACTLY how to get down to my goal weight. When I follow the plan it works like a charm. I easily and comfortably drop 2-3 lbs per week. No problem. But, for unexplainable reason I stop doing the things I know to do…
I got down from the low 220s to 211…then stopped. For no reason. Frustrating.
I could (and have) berated myself. But, I’ll pick it up for another day or two and then stop again.
Weird.
I’m always studying successful people. Whether it’s reading all of Trumps books, or Sam Walton’s or Richard Branson’s or interacting with the successful business owners who hire me I’m knee deep in the psychology of men who make the world move.
Here’s something I’ve noticed: They know when to get help.
Everybody fantasizes about hitting the winning 3 point shot at the buzzer in the NBA finals. Or throwing or catching the winning touchdown pass at the Superbowl.
But, that’s just one instance in a series of TEAM plays.
Jordan was fucking unbelievable, but put Jordan alone on the court against 5 guys and guess what…he gets creamed.
These Gods Who Make The World Move get help when they need it. And, they don’t feel bad about it. In fact, they FEEL GOOD that they can be more efficient and get their goals. They LOVE paying someone to do the shit they don’t want to do OR getting help from someone with more talent or more money or whatever. It actually makes them feel good.
I’m as individual as they come but I’ve recently realized I try to do too much by myself and eschew asking others for help. This is a sticking point so I’ll bust it like I bust all other sticking points.
I’m getting help.
I’ve pinpointed 3 areas (through the 80/20 process) where I’ve been stuck for quite some time.
One of them is weight.
A part of me says, “Motherfucker, just do it. Quit making excuses and fucking do it already!!!”
I think back to before I took an MM bootcamp. What if I had said, “Dude, you know what to do, just do it!!!” instead of admitting I needed to get help. Where would I be now? Probably in the same position, maybe a tiny bit better but certainly not where I am now.
The question here is: Do I want to pretend I can handle this shit myself, even though I’ve tried multiple times and failed, or do I want to enlist someone else’s aid, get my goal and move onto bigger and better things?
Here’s another one: Do I want to be in this same fucking spot a year from now?
No, I don’t.

hey CJ…when’s the next warrior king newsletter coming out? i loved the last one.
after reading your latest blog entry…i think i know what you need. its simple really. you need a friend who you spend a lot of time with to keep you going…to push you, to motivate you, and to kick ur ass into gear. (remember back to when you were young and you had a best friend and you played together everyday after school and every weekend…essentially you were joined at the hip)
well…if you had somebody like that now, someone who was always around…and they ate all their meals with you…then the 2 of ou could do it together. its being part of a team. its the most powerful motivator their is. human beings are social animals. in a group, or even better, in a team, we are stronger. we have stronger morals, stronger convictions, stronger determination. we push ourselves harder when we are doing it alongside our teammates. they push us, and we push them back. it is a win-win scenario…everybody gains, nobody loses.
the only problem with this is, in adult life, most people don’t have the opportunity to spend time with their team like we did when we were children…and most adult don’t have the team to begin with. i’ll bet if you asked the people who are close to you, they would want the same thing. now its just a matter of logistics. scheduling jobs with this new adult team oriented life. people who are good friends with their coworkers (and i mean real friends) are in the ideal situation, because they can create this continuous team relationship.. they can eat all their meals together. they can workout together. they can go out and pickup girls together. this can be very powerful.
in this day and age, as an adult, i begin to question, why do we all go our separate ways? certain professions allow this better than others. soldiers, professinoal athletes. i’m not sure what others.
however, i truly believe that project hollywood, in concept, was a brilliant idea. they just went about it the wrong way. they started out as strangers. their goals were not aligned, and they weren’t all good friends with a long history to start out.
imagine living with 4 or 6 of your friends (in a place big enough to support this many people) whose living styles and desires were aligned. imagine living with warrior kings. if the people were the right people, then 6 months or a year of this would be incredible. if you all were in the mindset where you wanted to improve yourselves (eating, exercising, making money, pickup, whatever it might be) and you can structure it in a healthy way (not looking to create a cult) then this would be so incredibly powerfull.
well, its just a thought =)
Hey CJ. I can’t believe I’m giving you advice on anything, but as somebody who in the last year has lost 65 pounds (largely thanks to the community) this is something I have experience in.
Find out what’s causing you to not do what you know you have to (for me it was just plain old boredom which caused me to eat for lack of better ways to occupy myself) and try to eliminate that.
Anyway I’m happy to finally be where you are now, so don’t get too down.

This is a good blog. We all can use help from one another to strengthen ourselves and each other. Sinn wrote an awesome blog on sharpening the sword where he is always studying other PUA material trying and it and studying people and always trying to learn even if he is the second best in the world at PUA. He practices what he preaches which is a very powerful skill in leadership.
